Mumtaz Typeface and Display Book

India is a country rich in beautiful colors, patterns, and designs, which quickly became a fount of inspiration for the typeface Mumtaz. Their fabrics, pottery, and architecture, such as the famous Taj Mahal, built as a final resting place for Mumtaz Mahal, contain intricate details and floral patterns. Pulling from designs such as those on the facade of the Taj Mahal, I began to build a floral typeface that ultimately breaks many typical “rules” of type design. With the Taj Mahal as my primary inspiration, it was only fitting that my typeface be named “Mumtaz.”
